1) The Junior Doctors at all three government medical colleges in Odisha, have decided to boycott work from Thursday in protest against the apathetic attitude of the state government in the alleged sexual harassment of fellow women junior doctors by Senior Professor of CB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMH), Dr. Sitaram Mohapatra. The junior doctors of the MKCG Medical College in Brahmapur and VSS Medical Collge in Burla will join the protest launched by their counterparts at the sCB.
2) Odisha’s legendary sand artist, Sudarsan Pattnaik, has won another in the doubles category with American artist Mathew Diebert (USA) at the World Cup of Sand Sculpting 2014 in Atlantic City, USA for the sand sculpture, “Taj Mahal – Picture of Love”. Earlier, he had won the ‘People’s Choice’ Prize n the solo category for his sand art, “Save tree, Save Future”.
3) Former Congress MP from Nabarangpur Lok Sabha seat, Pradeep Majhi, Congress candidate from Titlagarh Surendra Singh Bhoi, BJP candidate from Parjang Bibhuti Pradhan and BJD candidate from Laxmipur assembly seat Hema Gamang, have moved the Orissa High Court, alleging irregularities and malpractice during the last elections. Pradeep Majhi had lost the Lok Sabha polls by a slender margin of 2,042 votes.
4) ULB polls begin in Balangir and Titlagarh amidst tight security arrangements. The BJD has left no stones unturned to capture these ULBs, while the Congress too did its best to give a tough time to the ruling party. The BJP may not make any big impact.
