TNI Bureau: Congress MLA from Kantabanji, Santosh Singh Saluja has been suspended from the assembly for seven days after he made an objectional remark against Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat.
Saluja got angry and upset when BJD Deputy Chief Whip Sanjay Dasburma was allowed to speak first instead of any member from the Opposition party.
BJD Chief Whip Pravat Tripathy moved the motion to suspend Saluja from the House, which was adopted by a voice vote. Saluja refused to apologise for his remark.
Members from the BJD and BJP condemned Saluja’s remark against the Speaker. Leader of the Opposition, Bhupinder Singh clarified that the Congress Party did not endorse Saluja’s remark. But, he still criticised the suspension.
