The tragedy has sent shockwaves across Odisha, with leaders across party lines expressing condolences. Authorities in Tamil Nadu have launched an investigation into the circumstances that led to the gas leak.

The incident has once again highlighted the need for stringent workplace safety measures and better protection for migrant workers employed outside the state.
