Just a few days before the Dussehra Holidays, the Odisha Government has announced a 10% hike in the Dearness Allowances (DA) for its employees. The DA hike will benefit the existing employees as well as the pensioners.
With this 10% hike, the total DA has now gone up to 90% of the basic salary. It will be implemented back-dated from July 1, 2013. At least four lakh employees will avail the benefits from the DA hike. At the same time, 3 lakh pensioners will also get the benefit.
The state government will bear an additional expense of Rs 600 crore per annum because of this DA hike.
