No Mobile Roaming Charges in India from 2013

TNI Bureau: In a big relief to the mobile phone subscribers across the country, the government has decided to abolish mobile roaming within the country from 2013. It was announced by Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal today.

Earlier, Telecom Secretary R Chandrasekhar had hinted about it. The aboloition of roaming was proposed in the National Telecom Policy 2012. The DoT is going ahead with its promise to adopt “one nation-free roaming” objective.

This is the first time in several months the UPA government has got something for the common people to cheer about.
