Nitish Kumar passed a big challenge of his life, as he won the trust vote in the Bihar Assembly after splitting from his 17-year-old partner BJP. The Congress Party, which preferred to fish in the troubled waters, offered its unconditional support to the JD(U) with four MLAs. Nitish got the support of 126 MLAs, while 24 voted against it.
In his speech, Nitish Kumar slammed the BJP and talked more about Narendra Modi. He rejected the ‘Gujarat Development Model’ and accused the BJP of trying to impose Narendra Modi on Bihar. Nitish also hailed the Congress Party for their support and justified his decision to end the alliance with BJP, playing the “secular card”. “We can’t accept divisive and communal politics,” he said.
The RJD slammed Nitish Kumar and decided to oppose the trust vote. However, the Congress support and BJP’s walkout helped the JD(U) win the day on the floor of the House. On an interesting note, Narendra Modi was the prime focus during the debate and even BJP MLAs shouted slogans in his favour, giving intense pain to Nitish Kumar and his colleagues.
