Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who had dumped the BJP last month, has gone all out to trigger a split within the saffron party to increase the tally of his own MLAs and rule peacefully. While one BJP MLA was suspended for taking an anti-party stand, a few others may follow the suit.
According to the Bihar BJP, Nitish Kumar is trying to woo its MLAs with offers of Ministerial berths and plum posts in Corporations. There is a “money-game”, alleged the BJP. Hayaghat MLA Amarnath Gami was suspended yesterday for criticising Sushil Modi. He and JD(U) revealed that seven more BJP MLAs are ready to switch loyalty to Nitish Kumar.
The BJP has gone into a huddle in Bihar to save its flock. The party has accused the JD(U) of creating a rift within the party and also warned its rebel MLAs not to cross the party line. It would be difficult for the BJP to retain some MLAs, who are adamant of joining Nitish Kumar, who hold the power at this point of time.
