With the split between BJP and JD(U) becoming imminent now, the JD(U) has reportedly launched a major offensive in Bihar to buy the Independent MLAs and even poach the BJP and RJD MLAs. The BJP warned the JD(U) not to indulge in such activities, saying people of Bihar will never forgive it for this “sin”.
Currently, JD(U) has 118 MLAs in the 243-member Bihar Assembly, while the BJP has 91 MLAs. Nitish Kumar needs just 4 MLAs to gain majority in the House. Many Independent MLAs have already extended their support to Nitish Kumar. However, the Bihar CM does not want to rule with a wafer-thin majority. He needs maximum MLAs on his side to prevent any disturbances in future.
