New Telecom Policy paves way for Free Roaming in India

TNI Bureau: The Cabinet on Thursday approved the new Telecom Policy 2012, paving a way for removing roaming charges on mobile phones. The new rule will definitely bring cheer for a number of consumers.

The policy also favours the pan-India Mobile Number Portability, which will enable users to retain the same phone number even after switching over to one circle to another.

The policy also proposes to boost domestic manufacturing. However, it is unclear when the measures will be implemented.
