By Hemanta Pande: Odisha women Congress Chief Bijaylaxmi Sahu vehemently criticized the Naveen Government today in a press meet at Congress Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.
Addressing to the media, Ms Sahu accused that the Police and the government have been hiding the truth in recently occurred rape cases in the state.
Ms. Sahu cited the recent horrific incident of rape and murder of a minor girl in Balanga near Bhubaneswar. She claimed that the minor girl was gangraped and then burnt by the culprits in order to destroy the evidence.
However, the concerned police officer said that this incident was a consensual sex between two willing persons.
Meanwhile, a Congress team visited the place, where the heinous crime was occurred, found that there were three glasses and half- empty liquor bottle for which they suspected that it was just not a consensual sex but a gangrape by force.
Ms Sahu also revealed the recent rape case of a girl, who is sexually assaulted and thrown in Delta Square in the capital city. She said how Bhubaneswar police coloured the heinous crime in saying that the girl was not sexually assaulted but only molested by the co-passengers of an auto.
In addition to that, Ms Sahu criticized the role of a BJD MLA who instead of demanding justice for the rape victim went on to block the highway and tore some news papers in which he was mentioned as a tainted politician.
In fine, the Congress leader on behalf of her party demanded an adequate compensation for the victimized family, a fair police investigation, and to establish more Fast-track courts to deliver speedy justice to the rape victims in the state.
