The 60th National Film Awards were announced on Monday in New Delhi. Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan bagged Best Actor award for his performance in Tigamnshu Dhulia’s ‘Paan Singh Tomar’, which also won the Best Feature film. Irrfan’s athlete-turned-dacoit role in the film was highly appreciated by the juries.
Director Sujoy Ghosh won Best Screenplay for ‘Kahaani’ and Namrata Rao bagged National Award for the best editor for the same film. ‘OMG’ starring Akshay Kumar, won Best Adapted Screenplay at the function.
Special Jury Award went to actress Parineeti Chopra for her performance in ‘Ishaqzaade’. Nitin Kakkar’s ‘Filmistan’ won Best Hindi Film and S S Rajamouli’s ‘Eega’ won Best Telugu Film.
While Bedabrata Pain’s ‘Chittagong’ won Best Song, Shankar Mahadevan won Best Playback Singer (male) for the song Bolo Na from the same film. Similarly, Best Playback Singer (female) award went to Aarti Anklekar Tikekar for ‘Palakein Naa Moondoon from Marathi film ‘Samhita’. .
Director Rituporno Ghosh also won the Jury award for Bengali film ‘Chitrangada’. Ace Kathak dancer Pandit Birju Maharaj won Best Choreographer for the film ‘Vishwaroopam’.
