Nation pays Homage to Mahatma Gandhi on Martyrs’ Day

TNI Bureau: Today, the nation is observing Martyrs’ day.

It was on this day in 1948, Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, was assassinated. Since then, the day is observed as Martyrs’ Day.

In addition, nation is grateful to those martyrs who suffered and died for the freedom, welfare, and progress of the country.

A two-minute silence in memory of the Father of the Nation and other martyrs will be observed throughout the country at 11 am.

The day is also observed as World Leprosy Day.
