Earlier, India won the toss and elected to bat first. Sehwag scored 117 off 117 balls, while Gambhir made 45. Tendulkar yet again disappointed. He was out for 13. Virat Kohli became Swann’s fourth victim. He scored 19.
At close, Yuvraj Singh was batting on 24, while Pujara was on 98. Pujara on his way to score his second test hundred. The Indians would be happy with this effort on a track, which has started taking turn on Day 1.
