A day after Gujarat Chief Minister talked about women entrepreneurs in his state at the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), he reached out West Bengal’s industry leaders on Tuesday at three chambers of commerce in Kolkata. During his address, he promoted his 5F formula for industrial growth: Farm to Fibre, Fibre to Fabric, Fabric to Fashion, and Fashion to Foreign.
Addressing the West Bengal Chambers of Commerce, Modi hit out at the Centre for allowing Italian marines to go back to their country to vote and showing soft attitude towards Pakistan even after beheading of an Indian soldier at LoC. He said, “Pakistan beheads our soldiers but we host lunches for them”.
Expressing his concern over power crisis, he promised to introduce a policy to promote solar energy through which every person can have solar panels on their rooftops and sell power, if his party comes to power in the Centre.
He asked what the Centre has given to the country. It has kept the entire country in darkness. There is coal and power stations, but the power stations do not have coal to produce power and the country is in darkness. It does not mean that the government cannot resolve the problems, but there is lack of will to do things that is leading to inaction, he said.
Modi has been visiting several states probably to position himself for the top political role ahead of 2014 general elections. His visit to Bengal came when his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee is in the national capital seeking financial assistance from the Centre. Bengal Inc was eagerly waiting for the day to hear from Modi about the success story of his state.
