Modi gets a Match, Nitish Kumar roars in Delhi

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has a new, yet strong rival in his quest to become the Prime Minister of India aftermath 2014 elections. JD(U) leader and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar showed off his strength by holding the ‘Adhikar Rally’ at Delhi’s Ramlila Ground, which was attended by around one lakh Biharis.

Nitish demanded a special status for Bihar, saying it is the right of Biharis and they are not begging for it. He also warned all major political parties, saying they have to respond to the calls of Biharis after 2014 if they fail to do. He also put the UPA Government on notice and indicated that his party would with anybody that gives a special status to Bihar in future.

Nitish created panic in BJP by commending the PM and Finance Minister for acknowledging Bihar’s growth, but said a special status is required for the state, as it still remains the most backward state in the country.

He also took a potshot on Narendra Modi, saying a person who feels about all sections of the society and take everyone by side, will occupy the power in Delhi. Nitish also talked about the Bihar model of growth and said that would become the national model. Throughout his speech, he tried to maintain and equi-distance from the BJP and Congress even though the saffron party remains his ally in Bihar and at national level. The BJP was not even invited to the rally.
