TNI Bureau: The tourist in Satapada, who had fallen down from the boat and drowned in the deep lake water, his dead body has been found on Friday in Chilika. The locals of that area and a boatman found the body and informed the police following which the body was sent for post mortem.
Following the incident, the sister of the victim, had lodged a complaint at Bramhagiri police station against the boatman, who allegedly did not help the victim to save his life.
According to an FIR, the victim Sharat Gupta, a resident of Chhattisgarh had visited Puri and Satapada along with his wife and his sister and some friends after his marriage that was held on December 17.
They had hired a boat number 33 from the boat association on Wednesday in Satapada and moved towards Chilika to view Dolphin and natural beauty of the world famous lake. The boatman, who was driving very slowly near the Dolphin area, suddenly increased the speed of the boat and Sharat fell to the deep water.
Despite, Sharat’s family and friends’ request, the boatman did not try to save the tourist. Sharat drowned in the deep water, crying for help. Police tried to search Sharat with the help of locals, but could not able to find the victim.
The boatman is still absconding, and police are trying to nab the accused. The incident had sparked anger among other tourists, who are visiting Chilika via Satapada.
