TNI Bureau: Manoj Kumar Raina is the first contestant to become crorepati in the sixth season of the popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. He is a railway employee from Jammu.
The 48-year-old Raina is also the first contestant from Jammu and Kashmir to sit on hot seat in front of Big B on KBC. Meeting the legend was his ultimate dream as he is a great fan of Big B.
When asked about what he will do with the big amount, he said to build a house in his native Kashmir that he had left after militancy broke out in 1989.
It was not Raina’s first attempt but he was trying to come on the show since its first episode in 2000. All these years, he kept himself updated with all the updates that took place in and around India. He believes that knowledge only can help one reach the top.
Raina lives in Jammu with his parents, wife and a 10-year-old son, who accompanied him to the sets of KBC.
Raina is an passionate fan of Big B. “Amitabh Bachchan is a real legend. He shows so much love and affection he is so warm and the way he talks to people on and off the set is magical. It is unmatched” he said.
Raina gathered patience for this time inspired by a poem that suggests not giving in, as try never fails (Koshish karne waalon ki haar nahin hoti). Earlier, he had tried hard day and night but could not succeed and so disheartened.
