Madhavilata case: NCW recommends CBI Probe

The National Commission for Women (NCW) investigating the mysterious death of Ayush hospital doctor Madhavilata, recommended a CBI probe for the far and impartial inquiry in the case in which Brahmagiri MLA Sanjay Dasburma was allegedly involved.

NCW chairman Mamata Sharma expressed her dissatisfaction over the crime branch investigation into the case. She suggested the state government to recommend a CBI probe into the matter. She also brought allegation that the government did not cooperate with the NCW team during its visit to Odisha to probe the matter and defaulted in protocol. It can be noted that the Commission member Charu Walikhanna had visited Odisha to probe the case.

The NCW intervened in the case after the lady doctor was found dead on the railway tracks at Malatipatpur in Puri district on October 12, 2012.  The Commission had suspected BJD leader Sanjay Dasburma’s possible involvement in the case.

Initially, police suspected the doctor had committed suicide on the railway track.
