Lightning takes 2 lives, five critically injured

Rourkela: In a tragic incident on Sunday, two persons (Samra Tirkey & Bangali Purty) died on the spot leaving five others (Mangra Munda, Sandip Horo, Dinesh Lakra, Danda Munda & Amrit Sahu) critically injured at Jalda Stadium under Lathikata Block in a lightning bolt struck.

According to source the victims were witnessing the final match of a local  foot ball tournament in Jalda Mini Stadium when incident occurred at about 2.30pm. Though all the victims were budged to hospital immediately after the mishap, doctors declared the two brought dead.

The other five critically injured are now under treatment at Rourkela Govt. Hospital (RGH). Getting the shocking news the State Transport Minister Subrat Tarai and Rourkela ADM R.N.Mishra had been to RGH to inquire about the treatment to the victim. Both the minister and ADM had assured the family members of the victims to arrange the financial  assistance from Red Cross and other sources.
