Bhubaneswar, Sept 10: Two absconding persons were arrested by the Commissionerate Police on Tuesday for gunning down Kalingaputra Real Estate and Developers managing director Krushna Chandra Nayak at IRC Village on August 12. They were forwarded to the court today, police said.
Earlier, the police had arrested two accused Salila Patnaik alias Tarini and his friend Suraj Sharma alias Nepa from Old Bhubaneswar area and had seized two pistols along with bullets and a bike from the possession of the accused.
According to the police, the whole plan was executed by Nana, a land broker doing his business at several places like Cuttack, Puri, Nakhara and Bhubaneswar, under the direct supervision of Tarini. Nana had hired Pintu, who was working in Surat city of Gujarat, to become a part of the murder plot. Even Tarini had given Rs 1 lakh to execute the plan, added the police.
“We have arrested the duo after interrogating three persons on Monday. All the four accused involved in the murder case have been arrested,” said Nayapalli Inspector-in-Charge Anup Kanungo.
Kanungo said the murder was the outcome of past rivalry between deceased Nayak and accused Tarini. He added that the duo had a problem regarding land disputes in Nayapalli area.
According to him, the deceased had attempted to murder Tarini on March 17, 2011 and had also killed Tarini’s aide Mantu. To take revenge of the attack, Tarini was in search of an opportunity to kill Nayak, he added.
On August 12, according to the plan, Tarini and his aides Nepa and Pintu came in a bike and opened fire at the builder indiscriminately near a post office at the IRC Village here. Nayak was died in the spot after receiving three bullet injuries– one on the left lower abdomen and two on the right abdomen in result of bullet shock and hemorrhage before declared dead at the Apollo Hospital, Kanungo said.
