TNI Bureau: The Congress Party in Gujarat has received a massive jolt, as Congress stalwart and Deputy Chief Minister Narhari Amin joined the BJP today in presence of Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
Two days ago, Amin had resigned from the Congress, accusing the party leaders of betrayal. He was denied ticket in the assembly polls on the ground that he had lost twice in a row. That caused much annoyance among his supporters too. He had lost the assembly polls in 1998, 2002 and 2007 from Sabarmati and Matar assembly constituencies.
Many Congress workers and leaders who have been supporters of Narhari Amin, are also expected to join the BJP. Interestingly, Narendra Modi had taken control of the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) recently, which was under Narhari Amin’s control for a long time. It is speculated that Amin would be accommodated at the GCA again.
