JMM, BJD in Spat in Baripada; Former MP Arrested

By Janaki Ballav Dash: A 12-hour bandh call has been given by JMM in Mayurbhanj over the arrest of state JMM President & former MP Sudam Marandi over the alleged row of torching the houses of two BJD activists in Baripada. Sudam Marandi was arrested along with 98 of his supporters as a precaution.

The JMM however denied creating any such disturbances at the houses of BJD workers & said it’s a ploy of BJD government to frame Marandi in false charges. Krushnananda Mohanty, the JMM spokesperson said that such charges were false. He also claimed that the BJD workers first outraged the brother of MP in bus stand, which led to this scuffle.

The BJD said that it was Sudam Marandi’s brother, who first provoked them over some trivial issues. Late in the afternoon, several JMM workers led a procession with traditional arms bow & arrow, tangia etc allover the town, creating more panic for the administration.

The BJD further alleged that the Sudam Marandi runs several luxury buses from his black money and he has a number of charges against him. The party also brought serious allegations of irregularities against Krushnananda Mohanty. Irrespective of all these allegations and truth behind those, the tension between BJD and JMM will last long.
