As expected, the probe panel appointed by the BCCI has given a clean chit to BCCI President N Srinivasan’s son-in-law and Chennai Super Kings owner Gurunath Meiyappan in the IPL spot fixing case, saying he was not involved in such activities. However, the panel found him involved in betting, which is not illegal. Rajasthan Royals co-owner Raj Kundra too got a clean chit, as no evidences were found against him.
The two-member panel, comprising former judges T Jayaram Chouta and R Balasubramanian, submitted their report to the BCCI today. The report will be discussed at the IPL Governing Council on August 2. The panel did not inquire into the allegations against cricketers S Sreesanth, Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila.
