IPL Spot-Fixing: Former Ranji Cricketer arrested

Former Ranji player Baburao Yadav was formally arrested in connection with the spot-fixing in the IPL matches. He was picked up from Delhi yesterday and quizzed for his links with Ajit Chandila, who was arrested along with S Sreesanth and Ankeet Chavan last week.

Yadav had allegedly introduced Chandila to bookie Sunil Bhatia. With his arrest, the number of arrest increased to 18 in connection with the scandal.

A total of 18 people – three IPL players, four former players and 11 bookies and their assistants have been arrested so far.

Meanwhile, the five-day remand of three arrested IPL players – Sreesanth, Chavan and Chandila – and 11 bookies ended on Tuesday. They will be produced in a Delhi court today. Police may seek further custody of three players and 8 bookies for interrogation in the case.
