After failing to contain Narendra Modi’s rising popularity in the country, the Congress and some other “secular” parties in India have shown their utter desperation by writing a letter to US President Barack Obama not to grant visa to the Gujarat CM.
The initiatve was started by Independent Rajya Sabha MP Mohammed Adeeb, who collected signatures of 25 Rajya Sabha and 40 Lok Sabha MPs. Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi, CPM leader Sitaram Yechury, CPI leader MP Achuthan, JD (U) MPs Sabir Ali and Ali Anwar, Rasheed Masood (Congress), Sultan Ahmed (Trinamool Congress) Asaduddin Owaisi (Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen), Thirumavalavan (Viduthalai Chiruttaigal Katchi), KP Ramalingam (DMK), SS Rasmasubbu (Congress) and P L Punia, Hussain Dalwai, Alka Kshatriya, Hanumantha Rao, Pradeep Bhattacharya and Praveen Rashtrapal (Congress) were among the signatories.
These MPs have been accused of washing their dirty linens on a foreign soil. Sitaram Yechury has even denied that he had signed the letter whereas Adeeb said Yechury might have forgotten doing it.
Ironically, the letter was leaked to the media by the Indian American Muslim Council (IAMC). That exposed the real face of so-called secular politicians of India, who have put India’s pride and dignity at stake by taking the battle against Modi to the White House.
