TNI Bureau: India showed its military strength by successfully test-firing the underwater ballistic missile, K-15 (code-named B05) off the Visakhapatnam coast in the in the waters of the Bay of Bengal, a day after the 64th Republic Day.
Earlier, 10 trials of the missile have been conducted. It was the last trial after which India joined the club of the nations including the US, France, Russia and China, to have this type of missile capability.
The 10-metre tall Submarine-Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) was lifted from a pontoon; it rose to an altitude of 20 km and reached a distance of about 700 km. It is capable of being launched from some submarines. It will help India to launch the nuclear warheads from underwater facilities.
