TNI Bureau: Team India spinned out on their own turf! India slumped to a humiliating 10-wicket loss against England in the second test match in Mumbai. England now levelled the series 1-1 with two more tests to go.
Skipper MS Dhoni wanted a turning track and he played three spinners in this match. However, his strategy backfired, as Monty Panesar and Graeme Swann completely outplayed the Indian spinners – R Ashwin, Pragyan Ojha and Harbhajan Singh. On the other hand, Alastair Cook and Kevin Pietersen showed more determination and resolve as compared to the Indian batsmen.
Resuming from the overnight score of 117/7, India bowled out for 142 this morning. Gambhir was the top scorer with 65. Monty Panesar took 6 wickets, while Swann took four wickets. England needed 57 to win this match. And, they achieved the target in the 10th over without losing any wicket. Compton remained unbeaten on 30. Kevin Pietersen was declared ‘Man of the Match’ for his destructive innings of 186, which took the gtame away from India.
