1) The Budget Session of the Parliament begins today. The session will continue till August 14 in two sittings. The Railway Budget will be presented on July 8, while the Economic Survey will be released on July 9. The Union Budget will be presented on July 10.

2) The Lok Sabha was adjourned till noon and then till 2 PM, as the Opposition created ruckus over the price rise.

3) In a historic judgement, the Supreme Court ruled that ‘fatwas’ issued by religious heads will be termed illegal if they violate the rights of individuals. The apex court further observed that Shariat courts have no legal sanctity.

4) Congress President Sonia Gandhi has demanded the post of Leader of the Opposition for her party, even though they do not have the requisite numbers.
