TNI Bureau: Fresh trouble started for Nitin Gadkari, who is set to be re-elected as the BJP President on Wednesday, as the Income Tax started probing seven companies, which had allegedly funded money into Gadkari’s Purti Group in Nagpur.
I-T sleuths in Mumbai are scanning the firms. Later, the Nagpur wing of the department will probe over the allegations against Purti Group.
I-T probe comes a day before BJP’s election that will chose its chief. The chance for Gadkari for his second term as the President will not be so easy as he has been facing criticism from the party members over the corruption allegations against his Purti group.
Even though, senior leader Sushma Swaraj has denied standing against Gadkari, other leaders including Ram Jethmalani, Mahesh Jethmalani and Shatrughan Sinha raised objections against Gadkari’s re-election as the party chief.
