Hockey: Kiwis show India Right Place

TNI Bureau: While we want the Indian Hockey Team to return with a medal from 2012 London Olympics, it seems the team is not prepared yet to take on big guns and may end up playing for a 8-10 position in the end.

After a disastrous campaign at the Olympics Test Event, where it lost to Germany, Australia and Britain, India started the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup Hockey tournament with a 1-5 loss against New Zealand.

The Indians looked lacklusture throughout the match and conceded 5 goals, while they scored just one goal, thanks to Shivendra Singh in the sixth minute.

For New Zealand, Simon Child (1st), Andy Hayward (34th), Nick Wilson (59th), Stephen Jenness (61st) and Matt L’huillier (65th) scored the goals. India will face Korea today.
