High-Profile Murder shocks Bhubaneswar

The sensational murder of a woman at Sabar Sahi in Rasulgarh area in Bhubaneswar has stunned the locals here, raising questions over the safety of common people in the state capital. No arrest has been made so far even after 24 hours of the incident.

Bachan Sudha Pattnayak (53), wife of a leading automobile dealer Manu Charan Pattnayak (60) was killed by unidentified miscreants at her three-storeyed house when she was alone. The incident took place between 12 noon and 12.45 pm on Wednesday at Rasulgarh. Police found her in a pool of blood in her dining hall.

The crime scene suggested that there might be tussle and fights. Three rooms were ransacked and utensils were found scattered in the dining hall where she was lying dead. Police suspected that the goons might have stolen some jewellery as the victim’s neclace and other ornaments are missing. Two cupboards were kept opened.

Police also seized a knife, a bloodstained shirt, a bag and a mobile phone from a drain in front of the residence. They were investigating into the possible role of Pattnayak’s maid, driver and private security guard, who has been absconding since yesterday. A visiting card with blood marks and a new saree were found from his chamber at the gate’s entrance.
