Gujarat Polls: Narendra Modi wins Maninagar Seat

TNI Bureau: Narendra Modi won the Gujarat assembly polls defeating his rival Shweta Sanjiv Bhatt of Congress in Maninagar by a huge margin of more than 94646 votes. The BJP led by Modi has improved its tally with lead in 112 seats, winning 3 seats in the 182-number assembly.

Seems like Modi is set for a hat-trick as the Chief Minister of the state. BJP is leading in 8 of the 12 Muslim dominated constituencies; Congress is leading in four, which shows that people of Gujarat once again gave thumbs up to Modi to form the government for the third time. The party is expected to win the number of seats similar to that in 2007 when it had won 117 seats.

However, Keshubhai Patel’s GPP bite the dust with leads in just 2 seats. While Modi was leading, he had tweeted, “No need of looking behind …FORWARD…We want infinite energy, infinite courage, infinite patience…”.

Modi’s victory sparked a fresh debate of choosing him as the PM candidate for the upcoming 2014 Lok Sabha polls. Speaking to a TV channel, BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said that Narendra Modi is a very important leader of the BJP. As far as the party’s PM candidate is concerned, decision will be taken at an appropriate time.

Here is the Tally Table
