TNI Bureau: After pushing FDI in multi-brand retail and aviation, the UPA II government has taken another progressive step by increasing the FDI in insurance to 49% from the existing 26%. The Cabinet also approved 26% FDI in pension.
Earlier, the Opposion and some UPa partners had raised much hue and cry over the reform push by the Prime Minister. Even Trinammol Congress-led by Mamata Banerjee had left the UPA, but the Congress remained unfazed and went ahead with the reforms.
As usual, the BJP, Trinamool Congress and other opposition parties have slammed the government and termed it as anti-poor and anti-people.
