Government formulates a Draft National Health Policy, 2015

The strategies of the Government in the Health Sector are presently guided by the National Health Policy 2002. The principal objectives of NHP-2002 inter alia includes achieving an acceptable standard of good health amongst the general population of the country and ensuring a more equitable access to health services across the social and geographical expanse of the country.

The Government has formulated a Draft National Health Policy, 2015, which aims at attainment of the highest possible level of good health and well-being, through a preventive and promotive health care orientation in all developmental policies, and universal access to good quality health care services without anyone having to face financial hardship as a consequence.

The Draft National Health Policy, 2015 has recognized mandatory rural postings or mandatory rotational postings as valuable strategies for retention of specialists in rural areas.
