Violence returned to Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh with the death of four people yesterday. However, the incident was not attributed to communal tension.
The tragedy was a fallout between people from Hussainpur and Mohammedpur over a land dispute. A farmer was killed at the field when rival groups opened fire at him. People from his side sought to avenge the death and killed three people, including a woman from the rival group.
At least eight people from Mohammaedpur have been arrested. Around 600 paramilitary personnel have been sent to the area to prevent any flare-up in tension. Muzaffarnagar has been at the centre of communal hatred last month, when 45 people lost their lives and over 200 got injured in the communal riots that lasted for over a week.
