As expected, former IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi has been banned by the BCCI for life. Modi cannot hold any posts in the Indian cricket administration in future, thanks to the ruling. The decision to impose ban on Lalit Modi was taken at the Special General Meeting (SGM) held in Chennai today. The SGM took just 11 minutes to decide its course of action vis-a-vis Lalit Modi. He was found guilty of financial irregularities in the IPL. The BCCI found him on the wrong side on eight counts.
Lalit Modi was the IPL Chairman-cum-Commissioner during the first three editions of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He was suspended immediately after the closing ceremony in 2010. Later, he shifted his base to London and never returned to India, fearing backlash from the cops.
