After celebrating his 75th birthday on September 13, former BCCI Secretary Jaywant Lele died last night following a massive heart attack. Lele is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
Lele was a club level cricketer and later became a qualified umpire before entering the BCCI as an administrator. The infamous match-fixing scandal broke out during his tenure in 2000 and he was instrumental in setting up the Justice Chandrachud Commission. Later, he had recommended the CBI probe.
The entire cricket fraternity, including Sachin Tendulkar and Nayan Mongia have condoled the demise of Jaywant Lele.
