TNI Bureau: The month-long Winter Session of the Parliament began today amidst ruckus created by the Opposition members on FDI in Retail. Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned till noon.
The last session of the Parliament was a waste of time, as the BJP stalled both Houses, demanding the resignation of PM Dr. Manmohan Singh and FM P Chidambaram. Although they changed their stance this time, they have warned the government that any debate on FDI without a voting, won’t be acceptable to them.
The BJP has moved a notice under Rule 184 on FDI in Retail, which entails voting following a debate. The Left and Samajwadi have opposed the FDI, but they have not made their stand clear on voting.
Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress has moved a no-confidence motion against the government on this issue. But, they found no takers among the Opposition parties.
