Legendary actor Pran, who breathed his last on Friday evening at the Lilavati hospital in Mumbai after prolonged illness, was cremated at Shivaji Park crematorium in Mumbai on Saturday. The film industry lost another icon who was considered as ‘godfather’ of many and brought perfection in each of his character he played in more than 400 films.
Pran’s death left several Bollywood celebrities including Big B, Tinu Anand, Aruna Irani, Pankaj Dheer nostalgic. Some remembered his iconic villain roles, and his popular dialogues. He was described as a ‘heart of gold’ and for many he was the ‘gentleman’. Nobody can fill the vacant place of the veteran, who is always remembered as ‘Malang Chacha’ of UPKAR, ‘Sher Khan’ of ZANJEER.
Pran’s real name was Pran Kishan Sikand. He appeared as a hero, villain and character actor in over 400 films in over six decades. He is known for performances in films like ‘Khandaan’, ‘Madhumati’, ‘Milan’, ‘Aurat’, ‘Bari Behen’, ‘Jis Desh Men Ganga Behti Hai’, ‘Half Ticket’, ‘Upkar’, ‘Purab Aur Paschim’, ‘Don’, ‘Zanjeer’ and ‘Amar, Akbar, Anthony’.
His fans took to Twitter to share their memories. Amitabh Bacchan described him, “a gentleman of the finest order…an admirable colleague …a thorough professional .. a master of disguise in the characters he played .. a delightful companion after ‘office hours’ .. and a considerate human,” on his blog.
The actor had a big hand in giving the senior Bachchan an important role in ‘Zanjeer’, which was his first biggest hit of his career.
