TNI Bureau: Captain Eoin Morgan played a memorable innings, as England beat India and levelled the two-match T20 series 1-1. Morgan hit a six off the last ball to see his team through.
India had scored 177/8 in 20 overs. Kohli (38), Rohit Sharma (24), Raina (35*), Dhoni (38) were the top scores. Dernbach and Luke Wright took two wickets each.
Chasing a victory target of 178, England openers Lumb and Hales added 80 runs in 8.2 overs for the first wicket. However, Yuvraj Singh put a brake on their march with a three-wicket haul. He conceded 17 runs in four overs.
The match went down to the wire, as England needed nine runs from Ashok Dinda’s over to win the match. Dinda bowled well to concede six runs off the first five balls. England needed three runs from the last ball. Eoin Morgan created history by hitting a six off the last ball and England won the match in style.
Lumb scored 50, while Hales made 42. Eoin Morgan remained unbeaten on 49. He was declared ‘Man of the Match’, while Yuvraj Singh was declared ‘Man of the Series’.
