Endgame for Indian Grand Prix in 2014?

The Indian Grand Prix F1 Race, which made its debut in October 2011, could be dropped from the Formula One calendar in 2014, according to British Business Magnate, Bernie Ecclestone, who controls a large chunk of commercial world. The 82-year-old business tycoon attributed political and bureaucratic tangles in India for Indian Grand Prix’s exit.

Ecclestone, who runs Formula One circuit, draws up the calendar and presents it to the governing International Automobile Federation. But, his calendar is not subjected to any scrutiny and it always gets approved. While he wants 20 F1 races in a year, there are 22 races that compete for a space.

Russia is making a debut in the F1 circuit with a race at the Black Sea resort of Sochi. Another Gran Prix is being planned in New Jersey. Also, Austria is making a comeback after an 11-year absence. In the prevalent scenario, there is hardly any scope for F1 Indian Grand Prix to survive.

India hosted two editions of the Indian Grand Prix at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida in 2011 and 2012. Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull) had won on both occasions. This year’s Indian Grand Prix, which is considered as the last, will be held on October 27.
