Edward Snowden offered Asylum by Venezuela, Nicaragua

Despite warning by the US, two Latin American countries – Venezuela and Nicaragua – has offered asylum to Edward Snowden, who is accused of leaking the US secretive surveillance programme. The latest move by these two countries could be seen as a big disappointment for the US.

Snowden, who is currently stranded at the Moscow airport, had sought asylum from other countries including India. However, India had rejected his request to avoid bitter relation with the US.

The CIA whistleblower Snowden is wanted on charges of espionage and leaking vital information.
