TNI Bureau: In a huge setback to Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy, his plea seeking de-recognition of Congress party was rejected by the Election Commission on Tuesday. While rejecting the petition, the EC said that Swamy had failed to prove how any model code of conduct was violated by the Congress.
The EC said that the allegations made by Swamy were completely baseless. Swamy had appealed to the court to de-recognise the Congress party after the allegations that the party had granted loans of Rs 90 crore to Young Indian, floated by Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
He had demanded a probe into the links between Young Indian and Associated Journals. He had alleged that fraud was committed to grab Herald House, owned by associated journals ltd, in the capital.
