Eating Pattern holds Key to Weight Loss

TNI Bureau: Eating pattern can lose weight and is a key for fitness– suggested a study. Researchers at the Hebrew University found in their experiment that careful scheduling of meals can lower the effects of a high-fat diet.

Led by Prof Oren Froy, Scientists from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem tested the effects of timing and fat intake on four groups of mice over an 18-week period to determine whether careful scheduling of meals could lower the effects of a high-fat diet. Earlier it was thought that obesity is gained through a high-fat diet and eating patterns.

In the experiment the researchers took two groups of mice and further divided the two groups into two. The first group of mice was given a high-fat diet at the same time each day and the second group of mice was although provided with the same type of food reach with high fat, they were only given food as much as they liked.

The other half of mice were fed a diet that was lower in fat but they were also divided to two groups, one group was given the food in time and the second group was given only when they required.

The result was that, all four of the groups gained weight but the group of mice that ate a high-fat diet at irregular intervals gained more weight, while the mice fed with low-fat diet at scheduled time, gained weight the least.

The study was published in the Journal of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology.
