Baripada: The district level vigilance & monitoring committee meeting was held in tribal region of Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday. The District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) revealed that 22.47 lakh mandays has been generated out of 12597 projects under MGNREG scheme.
The DRDA has received a total of 61.24 Crore out of which 36 crore has already been spent on different projects, said Rajesh Pravakar Patil, Mayurbhanj district collector at a meeting. Giving a list of total expenditure, he said that 9.85 Crore has been spent on Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) out of 21.48 crore sanctioned for the district.
Mr. Patil said that about 5502 houses under IAY are currently underway at different areas in the district. He said that Rs 71.87 crore had been sanctioned for the district under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) out of which 48.42 crore has already been allocated under for different projects and a total of 1327 km road work has been completed.
The authorities spent around Rs 2.46 crore for the watershed development programme out of the receipt funds of 9.37 crore which needs to be accelerated. Around 8.0 crore out of receipt funds 13.15 crore was spent for Rural water supply projects in the district. Few amounts have also been spent on sanitation programme to provide a hygiene environment to rural people. Around 2.08 crore out of the total funds 3.98 crore has been spent on this head and 12345 sanitary latrines have been provided to the rural public.
Moreover, the district envisioned livelihood mission programme will be implemented and major funds will be given for the upcoming developmental programmes, said Mr Patil. The meeting was also attended by MP Laxman Tudu, Deputy Speaker Sananda Marandi, the MLAs, Zilla parishad members.
