By Aurobinda Das: Though earlier the Diploma Engineers were initially posted in S-6 grade in different plants under SAIL (Steel Authority of India Ltd.), but surprisingly in present modifying provision the Diploma Engineers are posted in S-3 grade. Such apathetical decision of the management has raised unrest among the freshers.
In a welcome function of the freshers posted in Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) to their association DEAR (Diploma Engineers Association of RSP) its president said with this decision the management has underrated the Diploma Engineers. So the association urges the management to roll back its decision. Addressing the occasion, former SEFI (Steel Employees Federation of India) Chairman Brahma Mishra said this decision is unfortunate. He further said the diploma engineers are the backbone of the company. Noted trade unionist B.N.Das said all the trade unions should oppose this move of the management in a chorus. Aditya Mohapatra said it is an insult to the family of Diploma Engineers.
Besides this it was unanimously resolved that the newly inducted diploma engineers in RSP should be provided family health care facility as in other units of SAIL, it has already provided their training period should be reduced to one year from two years, stipend to a trainee should be minimum fifteen thousand rupees in a month, promotion in every three years and one BR higher type quarter at the time of joining should be allotted.
