Dawood was in Pakistan: Nawaz Sharif’s Envoy

Amidst the tension between India and Pakistan following the killing of five Indian soldiers at the LoC, a senior Pakistani diplomat has admitted that India’s most wanted, Dawood Ibrahim, was living in their country.

However, Dawood is not in Pakistan, he might have fled to UAE, said Shahryar Khan, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s special envoy to India.

The Pak diplomat said that the gangster was in Pakistan till April 2013. Defending the government, he said that Pakistan cannot allow him to target the country as well as India and other countries.

The revelation came after Pak troops opened fire at Indian soldiers at the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir four days ago killing five army personnel. The situation remained tense across the country. The protesters demanded strong action against Pakistan.

Earlier, Dawood’s whereabouts were handed over to Pakistan by India last year. However, Pakistan had showed no interest to share its information on the gangster. The sudden revelation came when the don is no longer in Pakistan.

He has been recently named in the chargesheet in the IPL spot-fixing case. Delhi police claimed that Dawood and his aide Chhota Sakeel were controlling the fixing and betting market of Indian cricket from Karachi and Islamabad.
