Nikhil Advani directed ‘D-Day’ is an excellent movie which tops in each and every department of a film. Beginning from the story to performance, music and cinematography, the film has been told in a balanced way that one will stick to his seat at the theatre till the end. Kudos to Nikhil for this outstanding presentation.
Rudra (Arjun Rampal) a former army officer, Wali (Irrfan Khan) an Indian living in disguise across the border, Zoya (Huma Qureshi) and Aslam (Aakash Dahiya) a criminal-turned-intelligence agent are the four forces whose duty is to accomplish the mission.
Amid high action sequences, Rudra finds a love for himself, a prostitute (Shruti Haasan) in Karachi. But she is a strange woman. Wali too has a loving family including a lovely wife and son. Zoya too has someone who awaits her return – her husband. But, her first choice in life is duty always.
On the day of the wedding of Iqbal’s son, which can be considered as the ‘D-Day’, all four of them are on their toes, but Mother Nature has something else for them, which may spoil all their planning.
Coming to performance, every actor and actress deserves approval for their great performances. May it be the veteran Rishi Kapoor or Nasser or the main cast, everybody has done their part ably.
Irrfan Khan can be seen as the best amongst the four on the mission. His expressions tell many things beyond dialogues. This is one of the most memorable performances by Arjun Rampal. Huma Qureshi is brilliant as always. The supporting cast- Nasser, who plays the RAW Chief Ashwini Rao has delivered a flawless performance.
The screenplay and dialogues are to the point and equally befitting to the sequence. Editing of the film is also unblemished. You once think that the continuing scene should end here and you will find a cut. The director of photography too has contributed much for the success of the film. Most of the shots are hand-held ones and that is the most electrifying thing. Even, the background music is heart-warming and befitting to the sequences.
Summing up all these things, D-Day becomes a ‘must-see’ movie and one will get optimum satisfaction out of his spending in a multiplex. Yes, the film is outstanding.
