TNI Bureau: The Cyclone Nilam created a havoc in coastal Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry. The cyclone passed through the Mahabalipuram area in Tamil Nadu and is expected to weaken into a deep depression in the next few hours.

Chennai, Puducherry and many parts of Andhra Pradesh, including Cuddalore have witnessed heavy rains and high winds. Thousands of people have been evacuated
in those states.
In Andhra Pradesh, Cyclone Nilam had a big impact in Nellore, Prakasam, Chitoor in Rayalaseema, Srikalahasti, Machilipatnam, Krishnapatnam, Nizampatnam and Vadarevu. Power and communication services have been affected in many areas.
