TNI Bureau: A Delhi court on Monday framed charges against all the accused including Suresh Kalmadi and nine others in connection with the Commonwealth Games (CWG) scam. The trial will begin from February 20.
The charges were framed by the Special CBI Judge Ravinder Kaur under various provisions of the IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act against sacked organising committee chief Kalmadi, OC Secretary General Lalit Bhanot and other accused with the offences including forgery, criminal intimidation, and destruction of evidence.
Kalmadi and nine others are accused of illegally granting the contract for timing and scoring for the Games to Swiss Timing. The CBI alleged that it caused a loss of about Rs 90 crore to the exchequer.
